Formula Options
As you may have heard, on February 18, 2022, Abbott Nutrition voluntarily recalled specific lots of Similac, Alimentum, and EleCare powder formula due concerns of potential contamination with the bacteria Cronobacter sakazakii and/or Salmonella.
Formula availability has improved over the last few months; however, families have told us that there are times when certain types of formula have remained difficult to find at the stores. We realize that this can put a significant strain on families. We do NOT recommend watering down formula, making homemade formula, using expired formula, or adding anything to the formula that you give your baby. Babies need a very specific balance of nutrients and electrolytes. Too much or too little of any nutrient could be very harmful, or even life-threatening, to a baby.
