Tantrums

Tantrums are a very normal stage in a child’s development. They can occur when a child is hungry, tired, overwhelmed, has an unexpected change in routine, or is told “no.” We see tantrums during the toddler years because they are still learning how to understand and express the “big emotions” that they feel. There are a number of ways that you can teach them how to better understand what they are feeling and ways to express those feelings in a healthy way. Verbalizing their emotion and modeling how to respond yourself is just one of the ways you can guide them through this trying time.
